Northern UK Canals

The Inland Waterways of North West England and North Wales were at the heart of the Industrial Revolution. Canals such as the Trent and Mersey made fortunes for owners and merchants, carrying raw materials to the developing cities and finished goods to markets and the coast. But now most of the industries are silent, and the canals access some of the most striking scenery in Britain.
